REVIEW
A very capable sequel to the hit thriller The Hunt for Red October, with Ford taking over the role of CIA agent Jack Ryan first introduced by Alec Baldwin. While on a lecture tour in London, Ryan thwarts an attempted Royal Family assassination, killing one of the terrorists in the process. This makes him and his family a target of the dead man's brother. Punctuated by a series of well-mounted and exciting action scenes, the film is marred only by a hastily tacked-on ending which belies what came before it. Whereas Baldwin's Jack Ryan was a protagonist driven by rational thought, Ford's Ryan is a reluctant but nevertheless visceral hero to be reckoned with. (Sequel: Clear and Present Danger)
