A cause celebre in the 1960s, this often funny but quite silly sex comedy follows naïve high school student Candy and her many sexual adventures with the opposite sex. Some good cameos (especially Burton as a drunken poet and Starr as the Mexican gardener) propel a far-out blend of '60s sexual liberation and hippie hijinks. Astin gets the best marks in the dual roles of Candy's staid father and lecherous uncle. Buck Henry adapted the novel by Terry Southern. You Might Also Like
