Liar, Liar

REVIEW
In this often hilarious but frequently mawkish comedy, Carrey plays a divorced father and unscrupulous lawyer; unfortunately for his adoring five-year-old son, not in that order. Making a birthday wish, young Cooper wishes his father could go one day without telling a lie. This starts a terrific premise which is realized most of the time. Watching Carrey blurt out the truth at the most inopportune times is truly funny. And his boardroom rant is classic. However, most of the scenes with his son and ex-wife are maudlin; you expect Carrey to skewer this kind of sap, not embrace it.
