REVIEW
Simon Templar, aka The Saint, has been around for a long time. The hero of over 50 books, a film series in the 1940s, and a popular TV show starring Roger Moore in the 1960s, this guy has seen a lot of action. And while there's a bit of action, as well, in this update starring Kilmer as Templar, its formulaic and convoluted story keeps it from ever becoming a truly satisfying espionage adventure. A proficient thief with state-of-the-art gadgetry and an ability for impersonation, Templar is hired to locate and steal the cold-fusion formula of scientist Shue. Natch, he falls for her during the execution of his duties. There's a couple very competent action scenes, and a few laughs along the way, but The Saint never gets as flavorful and fun as its predecessors. Editor's Suggestions
