Cruel Intentions 2

Cruel Intentions 2, the fifth retelling of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, is the weakest by far. But this oddball, straight-to-video trash could be enjoyable to die-hard fans of the first Cruel Intentions, for this follows in the footsteps of Gus Van Sant's Psycho as an almost scene-for-scene remake of the original. This scenario is made even more absurd than Van Sant's guilty pleasure, because this is made by the same writer-director as the first film (couldn't he have found any other projects to keep him busy?). The characters are all the same in this sequel (even though not all of them survived last time), and the situations are almost identical, with some tiny variations here and there. A half-hearted, junior high drama class run-through of the first film.
