Boys and Girls

An awful teen comedy, the generically titled Boys and Girls reteams the star and director of She's All That, but cannot duplicate that film's meager charms. The "plot" finds Prinze dumped by his girlfriend -- or rather, she asked her roommate (Forlani) to tell him he's dumped. Shockingly, Prinze and Forlani start to fall in love, and that's when boredom sets in. Really annoying, moldy one-liners alternate with crappy bubblegum music to grate on your last nerve, while the one surefire scene in these things -- the dance/musical number -- is overdone and infantile, with a song that desperately wants to be Fatboy Slim's "Rockafella Skank," which was used in the dance scene in She's All That. Forlani is terribly miscast (her classic beauty is especially at odds with this cutesy-pie genre) and Prinze is merely terrible.
