Silly British comedy that spoofs Merchant Ivory films and Brideshead Revisited with less than perfect but amusing results. The story revolves around an unmarried aunt who takes care of her niece and nephew. Her nephew Edward is a lame-brained homosexual while his sister is lusting after a townie who hangs out at the local pub "Scum of the Earth". Edward brings home his school chum Cedric as a suitor for his sister. Cedric is a prig who swims with all his clothes and pince-nez on! The servant announces he is overworked, so the whole idiotic crew travel off to the Continent with the townie George as servant. The sister is impregnated by George and the family decides she should marry Cedric. While on the alter Edward declares his love for Cedric and the wedding is off.
