Lightning Jack

An insipid comedy set in the Old West. Hogan plays Lightning Jack Kane, an aging outlaw who teams up with a deaf and mute Gooding to knock off a few banks. Gooding tries to liven things up with his physical schtick, and he might have succeeded had his material been elevated anywhere above insulting. Hogan makes us yearn for the less-nauseating "Crocodile" Dundee, and D'Angelo is embarrassing as the virtuous whore who pines for him. This is Muzak filmmaking -- the film's cheesy humor and fluffy plot line leave one with that kind of hollow feeling otherwise found only in elevators and supermarkets.
