REVIEW
Notable mostly for featuring an early performance by Oscar-winner Swank in the first and last episodes, Quiet Days in Hollywood tells a series of interlocking stories, few of which are actually compelling. In the first piece, Swank is Lolita, a foulmouthed hooker. By the film's end she is connecting with Peter, (Dobson), a closeted Oscar-winning actor. But the most interesting episode belongs to Richard (Lowe), a corporate attorney who is having a affair with his boss' wife Kathy (Wagner). Their saga -- intercut with Kathy's discussion about adultery with her philandering husband Bobby (Cusack) -- is the film's highlight. In contrast, the relationship between the fast-talking Angel (Mitchell) and his sex-crazed girlfriend Julie (Golding), is insulting. A mixed bag, to be sure, Quiet Days in Hollywood will barely pass the time on a very slow night. You Might Also Like
