REVIEW
Hilariously bad HK "King Kong" rip-off from the '70s has been released to video thanks to Quentin Tarantino's Rolling Thunder distribution. Hero Lee (later to play the cop in John Woo's The Killer) captures fabled giant ape with help of scantily clad (and lip-glossed) jungle girl. They fall in love, and cavort in slo-mo through the jungle with her pet leopard to the strains of a hideous love ballad (this scene is sidesplitting). When Mighty Peking Man is taken to civilization, however, many obvious stunt doubles and fake miniatures get trampled. Almost painfully funny at times, Mighty Peking Man is the perfect party tape; so blatantly bad, no "Mystery Science Theater 3000"-esque comments are remotely necessary. It's camp that works. (Dubbed)
