REVIEW
Director Elliott's follow-up to his hilarious The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert once again proves you can't make a cult film on purpose. This ramshackle comedy about Teddy (Schaech), a New York con man who inexplicably becomes a married prisoner in the Australian Outback, has lots of energy but no laughs. The town of Woop Woop rocks to the tunes of Rodgers and Hammerstein (hee-hee-hee) and makes dog food out of kangaroos and real dogs (ha-ha-ha). Teddy also learns that his father-in-law Daddy-O (Taylor) is the town leader who will shoot anyone who tries to escape (ho-ho-ho). Although it starts out amusingly enough, once the film settles down in Woop Woop, it has nowhere to go.
