REVIEW
Part of the appeal of the first National Lampoon's Vacation is its air of depravity and those wicked laughs. As the series grew into something of a franchise, little by little the humor that distinguished it dissipated, until all that's left is the feel-good family schtick at the heart of Vegas Vacation, the fourth in the series. The Griswolds venture to Las Vegas, where the entire family is seduced by its seediness and glamour. The supporting cast produces the few laughs the screenplay can muster, including Shawn as a smug card dealer, and Quaid, who once again saves the day as the family's ill-bred cousin, who can fry a steak like nobody's business. Newton's self-parody goes nowhere.
