REVIEW
Based on a true incident, this grisly tale plays like Silence of the Lambs with a Chinatown twist. Wong stars as a restauranteur who becomes the prime suspect in a series of murders. The police department at first befriend him and sample his delicious complimentary pork buns, until they discover that they've found their missing persons -- ground up within the filling of the buns! The remainder of the film shows their brutal attempts to make Wong confess to his crimes. Wong soon becomes a victim in his own right and begins to break under the constant pressure. Wong's performance lifts the film well above its lurid subject matter; he actually manages to make the viewer care (at least a little) about this butcher's plight. Part police procedural and part serial killer horror film, The Untold Story is definitely meant for strong stomachs only, and will quite possibly change the way you look at dim sum.
