Tommy Boy (Chris Farley)

Tommy Boy, about the moronic son of a multimillionaire, is unexpectedly funny. Farley stars as the title character, a recent college grad (with a D+ average) who returns home to work for his father's automotive company. When his father dies, Tommy must not only prove himself able to take control of the company, but to save it from closing, as well. Tommy Boy is peppered with lots of amusing physical schtick, and Farley and co-hort Spade (as Tommy's acerbic assistant) make an effective comedy team. They're no Hope and Crosby, but their work is infectiously appealing. Tommy Boy may not be at the head of the class, but of all the "dumb" movies so far, it's one of the smartest.
