This Irving Berlin song fest is a particularly sentimental but entertaining musical about the professional and personal ups and downs of a theatrical family. Merman and Dailey are the parents, with kids O'Connor, Ray and Gaynor joining the act. Marilyn is an aspiring singer, and she gets to sing "Heat Wave." Sure it's sappy, but who can resist Merman and O'Connor's onstage reconciliation.
