REVIEW
A wildly entertaining and remarkably accomplished road movie which features uncharacteristically sensitive and intuitive direction from Scott. Sarandon and Davis are the title characters, two friends who leave their male counterparts and head for a leisurely weekend getaway. En route, however, their trek turns deadly and they find themselves on the run from the police. Stylish and witty, Callie Khouri's Oscar-winning screenplay follows their series of escalating criminal adventures as the two women break away from the confines of a male-dominated society, searching for their own identity and independence. Sarandon and Davis are both outstanding, each creating enormously appealing, substantial and distinct characters.
