Tequila Sunrise

REVIEW
An uneven but gorgeous-looking romantic thriller which tries to and occasionally succeeds in capturing the mood of Chinatown, which Towne wrote. Gibson stars as a former drug dealer trying to go straight, but is about to be busted by his high school chum Russell. The two men become embroiled in a game of cat-and-mouse as both fall in love with a beautiful restaurant owner, Pfeiffer. The three stars give earnest performances, but are unable to hide some of the contrivances of the script.
