Tango and Cash

Stallone and Russell star in this slick, formulaic police thriller about two super cops framed by a megalomaniac drug dealer. Skipping the standard love interest (or are the two stars the love interest?), the film includes enough car crashes to keep Detroit in the black for another five years. The money combination of a mangy and volatile Russell (à la Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon) with a well-dressed, bespectacled Stallone allows both actors to play with their screen images and made the latter likable for the first time since Rocky.
