In this moody tale of dirty politics, sex and murder, Spader plays an ambitious young man running for the Senate position recently vacated by the indictment, and later death, of his father. Robards is Spader's more ambitious, self-serving and unscrupulous uncle, using his own private agenda as he guides the candidate's career. The campaign runs into trouble when Spader becomes involved in a murder investigation that threatens to expose more deep secrets than he could imagine. An involving romantic courtroom mystery with a little gratuitous sex and violence thrown in.
