REVIEW
This fifth entry in the Star Trek series was savaged by the critics and overlooked by audiences because of the ludicrous plot line (the Enterprise must travel through the allegedly awesome Great Barrier in search of God -- the great and powerful Oz was more ominous) and the corniness of Luckinbill as a Vulcan with a heart of gold. But it's also humorous and often touching. Director Shatner may have some problems parlaying action scenes to the screen, but nobody knows the crew of the Enterprise better than he and for that, we can thank him. Editor's Suggestions
