FROM THE LINER NOTES

The U.S.S. Enterprise proudly soars again in this newly restored, Director's Edition of the original Star Trek movie classic. When an unidentified alien destroys three powerful Klingon cruisers, Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner) returns to the newly transformed U.S.S. Enterprise to take command. Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley and the cast from the acclaimed Star Trek television series mobilize at warp speed to stop the alien intruder from its relentless flight toward Earth.

3 REASONS TO BUY THIS FILM

  • What better way to say "Up Yours!" to George Lucas than by buying this movie? Yo George, the dude who directed West Side Story made a better space opera in 1979 than anything you could muster in 1999.
  • My dad called it "Dumb Trek" when we left the theater, but he's totally wrong. I think.
  • Robert Wise heard our complaint about the film being too long, so he tacked on an extra 11 minutes just to spite us.
REVIEW
The first theatrical outing for the crew of the Starship Enterprise. Captain Kirk and friends are sent to stop a deadly energy field heading towards Earth. Not as exciting as its sequels, some good special effects help compensate for its extremely long running time. Still, if you're a "Star Trek" fan, you gotta love it. This is the extended edition, with 11 minutes added to the theatrical version.
