Sprung (Tisha Campbell)

Repellent, unfunny, endless "comedy" about gold-digging women and shallow, sex-obsessed men. There's no plot, no laughs, just four jerks flailing through a series of completely illogical, truly annoying and unfunny situations. After his very funny Fear of a Black Hat and the stylish Tales from the Hood, director Cundieff definitely takes a major step backwards with this film; one can only hope that this was a script he wrote as a teen and always vowed to make. It's really a shame that while African-Americans have a larger role (relatively speaking) in studio film production in the '90s, most of the output is either gangsta violence or lame sex comedies like Sprung. And this one's worse than most. Next to Sprung, Booty Call is Oscar material.
