Similar in theme to sex, lies, and videotape, this perceptive look at the delicate balance between love and sex in the age of video features the entangled lives of three young people. Lance, a part-time actor and full-time bed-changer at a hotel, becomes the object of desire for both Clara, a scriptwriter intrigued by the physical similarities between Lance and her dead brother, and Lisa, a shy hotel maid who obsessively watches his minor appearances as an extra in films she rents on video. This quietly stylized drama is a dark glimpse into the way people act and how they show themselves to others.
