REVIEW
Dorff (in a Brad Pitt-ish turn) and Witherspoon are the two surviving hostages of a 36-day incarceration at a Fun Stop convenience store, held captive by the terrorist group Split Image -- a group savvy enough to bring video equipment but with no apparent message. S.F.W., which stands for "So Fucking What," takes a swipe at every element of the machinery that turns a news story into a prime time event: the packaging of TV movies, instant analysis from "Nightline," psychobabble from shrinks, and groupies eager to bask in other people's 15 minutes of fame. Instead of being written off as a Natural Born Killers clone with B-movie execution, it managea to effectively juxtapose the horror of hostage taking with the banality of media hype.
