REVIEW
In the furiously imaginative tradition of Jodorowsky's '70s cult classic El Topo comes this violent, bizarre and mystifying parable of a young man's ultimate Oedipal complex. Set in Mexico, the story begins in a circus where a young boy is witness to his mother's dismemberment and his father's suicide. Understandably affected, the neurotic boy spends his adolescence in an insane asylum, but soon escapes (or does he?) and is reunited with his armless mom. Together, they begin a killing rampage against any woman who comes close to him. Plot matters little here, for it is Jodorowsky's intense visuals, like a hallucinogenic Fellini spectacle, that assaults the viewer leaving one both exhausted and exalted by this nightmarish vision.
