Coppola's film adaptation of S.E. Hinton's novel was a financial and critical failure. Unlike his version of The Outsiders, this film lacks Coppola's usual glossiness. Rourke stars as "The Motorcycle Boy," who returns to his home town to try to stop his brother (Dillon) from following in his legendary, wandering footsteps. This is a film which viewers will find either a pretentious bore or a rewarding film experience. (We found it the former.) Shot in black and white.
