REVIEW
This hard-hitting independent film delves beneath the surface of problem-plagued inner city life to explore the personal lives of those who are forced to live there. Filmed near the Toronto housing project where the Jamaican-born director grew up, Virgo's feature film debut tells three stories all set on an Easter Sunday and all dealing with personal redemption and the struggle to survive and love in a tough world. The first is about an older black man and former drug dealer attempting to adjust to life after release from prison. The second looks at the loneliness of a young woman who, abandoned by her boyfriend, contemplates an abortion as she watches videos of her life in happier times. The third tale follows a handsome young boxer who must face the truth about himself and his own sexuality after participating in a gay-bashing.
