SKINOPSISYou can have your goddamn red violin, we're much more interested in the creamy white flesh that Greta Scacchi shows (a little titty, a little ass) in a nice from behind shot. we'll take that over Samuel L. not kicking ass and not calling people motherfucker any day of the week. -- Rick Stanko

REVIEW
An eloquent journey through time and across continents, The Red Violin is a tale of cursed love and obsession. A renowned 17th-century artist crafts the titular instrument, the most acoustically perfect musical apparatus ever fashioned. The film traces the 300-year life of the violin as it's passed on through generations from musician to musician. Lost, stolen, damaged, resurrected, the mysterious violin seems to harbor the secrets and souls of each of its former owners and, as told through a contemporary framing device, becomes a priceless treasure that men would fight — perhaps even kill — for. Compelling, if a bit episodic, the film is a feast for the eyes and ears with a sumptuous production design and a haunting musical score.
