REVIEW
The last of director Kieslowski's "color" trilogy (following Blue and White) is a sumptuous finale, and the most satisfying of the three films. A beautiful Jacob stars as a model preparing a trip to reunite and reconcile with her traveling boyfriend. But events and emotions are skewed when she runs over a dog and seeks out the animal's owner. Who she eventually finds is Trintignant, a burned-out, bitter ex-judge who spends his spare time spying on his neighbors. An unusual relationship develops between the two, culminating in an act of self-examination and moral responsibility. Kieslowski weaves a compelling and haunting tale of communication, emotion and love gone awry, and it's all enhanced by a seductive, mysterious atmosphere. (French with English subtitles)
