REVIEW
Actor Hoskins throws his hat into the directorial ring with this offbeat tale of a wartime deserter (Fletcher) who disguises himself as a woman to escape his vindictive superior. Hoskins also stars as the head of a Gypsy camp who mistakenly thinks Fletcher is a witch -- a "rawney." Not completely successful, but a welcome change for the adventurous viewer.
