Allen's loosely structured but powerfully envisioned series of fables and vignettes takes us back to the halcyon days of radio. Through a series of hilarious, and often magical, reminiscences about his childhood, Allen eavesdrops on the lives of actors, singers, talk show hosts, and even the cigarette girl who made good. As usual, Allen deftly utilizes an extraordinary company of actors.
