In this adaptation of Jean Rhys' novel, Adjani plays a young woman who, upon being stranded in Paris, falls prey to a beguiling British couple (Bates, Smith). Excellent performances and Ivory's steady hand at the helm make this tale of hedonism and treachery a spine-tingling treat.
