Prince makes an prodigous film debut as The Kid, a young band leader with an alcoholic father, an uptight attitude and problems with women. Filled with outrageous production numbers and pulsating music by Prince and the Revolution as well as Morris Day and the Time. The film's treatment of women is suspect, but the question arises, is it unmitigated misogyny or a comment on the ravages of spousal abuse? You decide.
