This spellbinding, pleasant surprise from Australia tells the twisted tale of Martin, a neurotic, blind photographer -- no, that's not a typo -- who's convinced that everyone lies to him about his surroundings. He snaps off photos as physical evidence that he hopes will one day expose this alleged deceit. When he befriends a young man named Andy, he finds a companion to whom he entrusts the job of describing photographs. But his housekeeper Celia, an obsessive woman who is secretly in love with him, does everything in her power to sabotage their friendship. Director Moorhouse gets great performances from her ensemble in this fascinating, taut and well-made psychological examination of trust, perceived childhood wounds and sexual obsession.
