REVIEW
Shue plays an autistic woman who becomes quite a handful for her upwardly mobile brother when he must take care of her. Wacky misadventures ensue (oh, those crazy autistics!) until she undergoes experimental surgery and becomes "normal." But will the change be too sudden and too great? This wretched amalgam/ripoff of Rain Man and Charly begins as a wholly insulting, drastically unfunny "comedy," then predictably shifts gears to tug the heartstrings. Shue and Eckhart both overact, the script offers zero insight into autism or anything else for that matter, and the direction by Duigan (who's shown considerable bad taste in projects lately) is uninspired, to say the least. For a better feel-good comedy-drama, you'd be better off with Schindler's List.
