One of Altman's best, McCabe and Mrs. Miller is a wonderfully poignant drama which explores ambition, greed, love and alienation, all within a decidedly quirky western setting. Beatty is the cocky McCabe, a naively optimistic gambler who builds a town and hires Christie to set up a high-class brothel. Featured is a haunting Leonard Cohen soundtrack.
