The Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human

Billed as a "How-to-Do-It Guide," this mock "nature" documentary is silly and stupid, but at least it is not blatantly offensive. Pierce (Niles, on "Frasier") narrates the way in which the cute Billy (Astin) and the hot Jenny (Electra) meet and mate. Much of the descriptions have to do with sexual reproduction, and Pierce speaks plenty of clinical dialogue that is not nearly as funny as it is supposed to be. There is also a bad running gag involving "sperm" (shown here as track athletes) trying to fertilze an egg, and a high number of scenes of the couple in bed, none of which are particularly erotic. In essence, The Mating Habits of Earthbound Humans is just another needless variation on the girl-meets-boy, girl-sleeps-with boy, girl-maybe-loses-boy comedy, featuring likable idiots and a healthy dose of suggestive talk thrown in for good measure.
