This wickedly satiric romp is a decidely twisted and thoroughly amusing wallow in the world of sexual desires. A series of bizarre sexual murders are baffling the police in Madrid until young Angel -- the son of an ultra-right-wing, religiously obsessive mother -- turns himself in to the police. The problem is that he is innocent and has been experiencing the killings clairvoyantly. His femme-fatale attorney is aware of his innocence, as is his bullfighting instructor: for they are each responsible for the grisly murders. Director Almodóvar rips away the facade of human behavior and reveals a hilarious, sometimes frightening, subterranean view of a world ruled by passion and death. (Spanish with English subtitles)
