This bittersweet comedy, the inspiration for the American remake (remember, the one with Burt Reynolds?), is most aptly served by Truffaut. Gallic enchantment as the female of the species plagues Denner, the continually tempted skirt-chaser who seeks to transcribe his romantic legacy. (French with English subtitles)
