FROM THE LINER NOTESWith a pounding soundtrack and brilliant performances from a sexy young cast, this raw and turbulent film shows the talents of a new force in filmmaking. Watty (Gil Bellows), Starlene (Renee Zellweger), and their friends arejust as tough and dangerous as the Texas town they live in. When Watty and his psychotic partner Bill Mack (Rory Cochrane) murder a young girl in a botched robbery, Watty and Starlene turn their flight into a wild honeymoon joyride, where all you need for a good time is LOVE AND A .45.
REVIEW
Aiming for sardonic, hip commentary on today's modern world and life on the edge, Love and a .45 never quite escapes its derivative origins and unoriginal execution. Some interesting people pop up, but the viewer is never moved from mild interest to involvement. This ain't no True Romance, but if you're into the genre, you might want to check out the random assortment of marginal characters who flit in and out of the precarious lives of this would-be Bonnie and Clyde team.
