REVIEW
A humorous exploration of life on the fringe underbelly of a post-punk, beyond-hope society. The story follows Clint, a pale, emaciated 20-year-old who, despite being mired in a seemingly hopeless world of drugs, homelessness and prostitution, retains a cheery optimism. Hope springs eternal after an exasperated owner of an upscale Portabello Road restaurant promises the bedraggled Clint a job if he comes in the following week with a new pair of shoes. Clint's odyssey, following this promise of respectability, becomes his repeated and increasingly frantic attempts to acquire this elusive pair of shoes. A fascinating yet flawed comedy-drama that despite a tagged-on happy ending that borders on the bizarre is fun nonetheless and vividly captures this part of London. You Might Also Like
