REVIEW
Unbridled sexual energy that has been bottled up in a recently widowed woman (Spaak) is uncorked when she discovers her departed husband's secret hideaway. After further exploration she uncovers a home movie, showing dead hubby's passion for light S&M, and she soon figures out that this hideaway is actually a playhouse for his unquenched sexual thirst. Realizing that she also is feeling a bit parched, our widow decides to conduct a series of experiments involving various partners (including women) in hope of awakening her own dormant sexuality. One of the first import soft-core films to be non-exploitative, The Libertine is a visually and mentally stimulating slice of erotica.
