REVIEW
According to many who knew him, beatnik Neal Cassady was a genius of sorts, but the only impression we get from this film about his life is that he was a mildly intelligent, womanizing slacker. Last Time... is an uninvolving, annoying wisp of a movie that tries to compensate for the lack of a script (and a point) with an empty, clichéd music video technique. It's like watching VH1 for an hour and a half, but with less substance -- and the same damn jerk keeps popping up in every video! Director Kay most likely was excited by the parallels between Cassady's lifestyle and Generation X's perceived "attitude"; but like most twentysomething films, this is condescending and vapid.
