The Last Supper (1995)

An unexpected murder over Sunday dinner leads a group of five grad students to a unique course of political action. They alter their weekly ritual of inviting a sixth person for dinner and conversation by choosing as their guest someone they believe the world would be better off without. As the freshly dug mounds of earth in their backyard steadily increase in number, the members of the group go through disconcerting changes of their own, each finding that final solutions have fearsome effects on the perpetrators as well as the victims. While the film raises some intriguing questions, its potency is undercut by uneven performances and inconsistent plot developments. Still, it might be just the thing the next time you have the gang over for Sunday dinner.
