Perhaps the most hyped film of the 1970s, especially for its supposedly spectacular mechanical effects. Despite winning an honorary Oscar, the effects are anything but special. Whatever possessed producer Dino De Laurentiis, the king of the bloated epic, to remake the 1933 classic is beyond human (or simian) comprehension. The only redeeming factor of this remake is the launching of Lange's career and the end of De Laurentiis'. "When my monkey die, everybody gonna cry." Editor's Suggestions
