Schlesinger's first feature film is a sensitive drama about a young couple who marry because of pregnancy. While the film was unfortunately lost in the shuffle, having been released after its sensational "kitchen sink" counterparts Room at the Top and Saturday Night, Sunday Morning, it is a nonetheless witty, frank and poignant study of a lust gone awry. Featuring sterling performances by Bates and Ritchie as the young couple.
