Almodóvar's big-budget comedy-drama is filled with outlandish costuming, neon-bright colors and wild characters, all filmed at the director's trademark, frenetic pace. Alternating between farce and an examination of urban crises, the film stars Forqué as Kika, a sweet, sexy makeup artist who is forced to confront urban rape, multiple murders and intrusion of her privacy by the media's prying eyes. When Kiki is raped, it is caught on camera by a neighbor. The tape falls into the clutches of Andrea (Abril), the hostess of Madrid's "Cops"-like TV show called "Today's Worst." And Andrea -- who can be found clothed in black rubber with a robotic camera helmet on her head and arc lights covering her breasts -- wants to air the tape on national TV! A sometimes outrageous tale of voyeurism and media manipulation. (Spanish with English subtitles)
