SKINOPSIS

Paralyzed with post-graduation ennui, a group of college friends remain on campus, patching together a community for themselves in order to deny the real-world futures awaiting them. Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Noah Baumbach's hilarious and touching directorial debut was one of the highlights of the American independent film scene of the Nineties, speaking directly to a generation of adults-to-be unable to reconcile their hermetic education experience with workaday responsibility, and posing the eternal question, "Where do we go from here?" Stingingly funny and incisive, Baumbach's breakthrough features endlessly quotable dialogue delivered by a stellar ensemble cast.

We know for sure that perky-peaked Perrey Reeves appears topless, and that she was in a bunch of TV shows even though we've never really heard of her.

REVIEW
Set in that post-Bachelors' Degree, pre-gainful employment, Twilight Zone time of life, Kicking and Screaming follows several newly minted college grads as they haphazardly grapple with deteriorating personal relationships, exacerbating family expectations and a nonexistent job market (with clerking in a video store once again serving as a metaphor). No new material here, but director Baumbach crafts an engaging, unpretentious treatment of familiar territory. A sometimes intelligent, sharply observed script and witty performances combine to deliver a fresh entertainment. The characters are recognizable without being clichéd, and their various responses to academia, separation and anxiety illicit pangs of nostalgia -- even in those viewers a decade or two removed from the experience.
