Much like his Do the Right Thing, Lee's explosive Jungle Fever is a stirring and thought-provoking drama about race relations in modern society.
Snipes stars as an aspiring African-American architect who begins an affair with Sciorra, his Italian-American secretary. For Lee, the contentious theme of a mixed-race relationship proves simply to be a springboard for his goal of exploring such divergent topics as tensions within African-American families, drug abuse, the tempestuous relationships between men and women, and the widening social schism between the blacks who attain middle-class "respectability" and the ones left behind. Jackson is riveting in support as Snipes' addict brother.
