REVIEW
Smart, hard-working Jason (Payne) and his thuggish malt liquor-swilling sibling Josh (skillfully played by rapper Woodbine) are bonded by the memory of their slain father (Whitaker). But they are also separated by the opposite paths they choose for themselves. When Jason meets Lyric (Pinkett), she inspires him to leave their town and start a peaceful life together; psycho-bro stands between them, dangerous and out of control. Powerful dialogue, fine performances, an intelligent script and eyeglass fogging lovemaking scenes more than compensate for the occasional cliché. Editor's Suggestions
